A device and a method for processing an LDAP for accessing a relational database are provided to access an RDBMS(Relational DataBase Management System) as well as a directory database and process data without any process of generating a schema by using an LDAP interface. An initializer(163) performs initialization by using setting information. A connection manager(165) connects with the RDBMS through a database interface(20) in response to a bind command received from the LDAP interface(12), and terminates connection with the RDBMS through the database interface in response to an unbind command. A query processor(167) transfers a response corresponding to the command to a client(7_1-7_n) through the LDAP interface by generating an SQL(Structured Query Language) query for a search/add/delete/modify command received from the LDAP interface. A syntax manager(169) enables the RDBMS to perform the SQL query through the database interface by receiving the SQL query and converts a query result of the RDBMS into a response structure corresponding to the command.
