A data processing system is provided to minimize power consumption by simplifying a data transfer operation in data transfer between a data processing device and a data storing device. The data storing device(21) includes an HDD(Hard Disk Drive)(211) storing data, a data transferor transferring data between the HDD and the data processing device(22), and a switch(214) connecting the data transferor or the data processing device to the HDD. The data processing device includes the first interface transferring the data to the HDD and a controller(223). If the data storing device is turned off, the controller enables the switch to connect the HDD and the first interface. The data storing device includes a power supply(215) for supplying power to the HDD. If the data storing device is turned off, the controller enables the power supply to supply the power to the HDD.
