Perfluoropolyethers obtained by oxidation of perfluorodioxoles of formula (I) wherein R<SUB>f</SUB>=-F, -(O)<SUB>y</SUB>C<SUB>n</SUB>F<SUB>2n+1 </SUB>with y=0, 1 and n=1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and with W=-F, -C<SUB>n</SUB>F<SUB>2n+1</SUB>, optionally in the presence of tetrafluoroethylene and/or hexafluoropropene, and subsequent reduction of the obtained peroxidic perfluoropolyethers.
