A semiconductor memory device with an on die termination circuit and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent distortion of the voltage level of output data while reducing current consumption. A termination resistance supply unit is connected to an output pad, and supplies termination resistance corresponding to a plurality of pull-up and pull-down control signals. A decoding unit(100) outputs an ODT(On Die Termination) driving signal and a plurality of decoding-output signal by decoding a plurality of ODT setting signals. A control signal generation unit(300) outputs the decoding-output signals as the pull-up and pull-down control signals in response to an ODT-off signal and a clock. An output control unit(400) enables only one of the of pull-up control signals and only one of the of pull-down control signals while a read operation sensing signal is enabled.
