LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption of the LCD device by preventing a source voltage from being supplied to a first gamma generator in an 8-color mode. A liquid crystal display device includes a power source(20), a first gamma voltage generator(30), and a second gamma voltage generator(40). The power source generates various power signals and supplies the power signals to the LCD. The first gamma voltage generator generates a full-color gamma voltage by using the power signal from the power source, in a full-color mode. The second gamma voltage generator outputs one of the power signals from the power source according to polarity of the data in an 8-color mode.
