A linear motor for a linear compressor is provided to improve operation efficiency by transferring all flux generated in front and rear ends of an outer stator to front and rear ends of an inner stator. A linear motor for a linear compressor comprises an inner stator(62), a permanent magnet(66) and an outer stator(64). The inner stator includes laminations having predetermined length in axial direction, which is laminated in the other end of a piston(56) in circumferential direction. The permanent magnet is fixed on an outer circumferential surface of the inner stator. The outer stator is laminated in circumferential direction so that the lamination longer in axial direction than the lamination of the inner stator wraps a coil-winding body.
