A key input device of a mobile communication terminal for the visually impaired and a method thereof are provided to comprise one number key and a select key, and to count the number of times the number key is pressed, then to recognize the number of the pressed times as numbers while outputting voices for the numbers whenever the select key is pressed, thus the visually impaired can easily press telephone numbers with one key only. A number key input unit(100) enables a user to repeatedly press a desired number as many as the number of times corresponding to the desired number. A select key input unit(110) selects the number of the pressed times. A sensor(120) receives input signals of the input units(100,110). A counter(130) counts the number of times of an input signal of the input unit(100), and confirms the counted number as an equivalent number by an input signal of the input unit(110). A controller(140) stores a signal received from the counter(130) as an equivalent number, and generates an equivalent tone signal. A voice processor(150) receives a number signal inputted from the controller(140), and processes the number signal as a voice signal of the equivalent number. A voice output unit(160) receives the voice signal to output the voice signal to the outside of a terminal. |
