A video mail service system and a method thereof are provided to offer a new data storage place on a mobile communication network by establishing a feature code and a password and enabling any user, who knows the password, to use the multimedia contents stored in a personal mail box in common. A video mail service system comprises an MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(140), an MMC(Multimedia Message Center)(150), and an SMS(Short Message Service) server(160). The MSC(140) carries out call processing for enabling a video terminal to use a video mail box according to a feature code inputted through the video terminal. The MMC(150), linked with the MSC(140), classifies and stores picture massages according to video terminal subscribers, and provides stored messages to an arbitrary subscriber. The SMS server(160), linked with the MSC(140) and the MMC(150), transmits a picture message arrival notification message to a called video terminal if a picture message is transmitted from a calling video terminal. |
