A method for providing charging information for a wireless data communication service and a system thereof are provided to enable a user to conveniently check charging information by requesting the charging information via a ping message. A method for providing charging information for a wireless data communication service comprises the following several steps. A mobile communication terminal sends a data call(101). The mobile communication terminal receives an allocated IP address from an IWF(Interworking Function), and performs a wireless data communication with a receipt side terminal by using the allocated IP address(103,105). If the terminal receives a ping message from a charging server, the terminal transmits a ping response message to the charging server(109,111). The terminal checks whether the received ping message includes the charging information, and if so, the terminal displays the charging information included in the ping message(113).
