An apparatus and a method for protecting a fusing part from overheat and an image forming apparatus using the apparatus are provided to reduce a warmup time of the fusing part by controlling temperature of the fusing part even during an initialization operation of a control part. A fusing part overheat apparatus includes a sensor(201) for detecting temperature of a fusing part(207), a control part(203) for controlling the temperature of the fusing part by software, and an overheat prevention part(205) which includes one or more circuit elements. The overheat prevention part compares a signal corresponding to the first reference temperature with a signal corresponding to the temperature detected by the sensor during initialization of the control part, and controls the temperature of the fusing part by supplying the fusing part with an output signal based on a result of the comparison. |
