A device for multi-path searching and energy reporting in a mobile communication system and a method therefor are provided to supply a multi-path searcher having a high detection probability with a very low false alarm probability for good paths, thereby tremendously improving receiver performance. A coherent accumulator(312) coherently accumulates descrambled and dispread receiving signals to divide the accumulated signals into actual number components and imaginary number components, and outputs the divided components. A peak emphasis signal calculator(314) inputs the actual and imaginary number components, and generates peak emphasis signals every time for the current point of time by using components within previous 2 points of time. A non-coherent accumulator(316) non-coherently accumulates the generated peak emphasis signals. A peak detector(318) detects peaks from the non-coherently accumulated signals. A maximum energy searcher(334) selects maximum energy values and equivalent location information from the detected peaks. A finger allocator(320) allocates signals of equivalent paths to fingers for demodulation by using the searched maximum energy values and location information.
