A diffusing plate and a backlight assembly are provided to supply lights uniformly generated from respective divided sections, by independently illuminating the divided sections or independently controlling light sources for the divided sections. A body part(110) includes a lower surface(111) for receiving light and an upper surface(113) for outputting the light. The body part has a plurality of domains(200) of which a horizontal section is a polygonal shape. A plurality of barrier walls(150) are formed within the body part. The barrier walls surround respective domains to define boundaries between adjacent domains. A diffusing member is formed between the lower surface and the upper surface to diffuse the light.
