A method for preventing the breakage of a CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) neck in a slim CRT TV is provided to prevent the damage of the CRT neck by displaying a picture capable of adjusting horizontal and vertical sizes in an initial picture when power is supplied to the TV and correcting deflection data by referring to adjustment data. If power is supplied to a slim CRT TV(S10), an adjustment pointer for adjusting horizontal and vertical sizes is displayed(S20). If an adjustment signal is inputted through the adjustment pointer(S30,S40), deflection data are corrected according to the adjustment signal when an inputted adjustment range is greater than a predetermined reference value and an image is displayed(S50,S60). When the adjustment range is smaller than the reference value, a state of the slim CRT TV is judged as a normal state and an image is displayed by using data before the adjustment(S70).
