The breaker has a switch e.g. gas blast switch, a break switch e.g. air operated circuit breaker, and a disconnect switch with respective pair of contacts (12, 14, 22, 24, 32, 34). Each contact of a pair moves with respect to other contact in translation along respective axis (AA`, BB`, CC`). A synchronization unit allows, during an interruption, separation of the contacts of the switches before separation of contacts of subsequent switches. One of the latter two axes is secant to the former axis.
