A method for automatically storing files in a digital multimedia device is provided to automatically store files stored in an external information storing medium in a storing device of a digital signal processing device such as a TV by using an intrinsic serial number of the external information storing medium and file information recorded in the external information storing medium. A system control unit judges whether an automatic download function is set up according as an information storing medium connects to a digital multimedia device(S310,S320). When the automatic download function is set up, the system control unit searches intrinsic information of the connected information storing medium. The system control unit searches an updated or newly generated file on the basis of a condition preset by a user among files stored in the information storing medium(S330). The system control unit automatically stores the updated or newly generated file in a storing device of the digital multimedia device(S340).
