A lancing device includes a housing, a moveable lancet holder configured to hold a lancet, and a launching mechanism. The launching mechanism includes a launch spring and retraction spring, at least one of which has been at least partially coated with a dampening material that aids in dampening sound and/or vibration during lancing.
