A method for canceling echo in a mobile terminal, and the mobile terminal are provided to prevent a mute phenomenon by attenuating a signal according to a noise level in an AEC, and effectively transfer clear signal without distorting a sound. A transmitting/receiving unit(110) transmits/receives a signal. A storage unit(120) stores data. A voice output unit(130) outputs a voice. A voice input unit(140) inputs a voice. A controller(150) controls the units, and recognizes a pattern of a sound outputted from the voice output unit. If the sound of the recognized pattern is inputted to the voice input unit, the controller controls the corresponding pattern value to remove an echo component by using voice recognition.
