The rectal probe (2) is fitted with a seal (60) which, when inflated, has an omega shape. This allows it to exert a uniform pressure on the walls (110) of the anal canal, the walls (90) of the anus, part of the wall of the rectum and part of the external ano-rectal zone (15).
