<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member for placing a substrate which has a simplified structure and can be manufactured by effectively using waste printed boards. <P>SOLUTION: A plate piece 1 is like a nearly rectangular tabular, and a notch 1a extending to the center is provided on one long side thereof. A plate piece 2 is also like a nearly rectangular tabular, a notch 2a extending to the center is provided on one long side thereof, and a projection 2b is provided at the center of the other long side. When they are used as a member for placing a substrate; the notch 1a of the plate piece 1 and the notch 2a of the plate piece 2 are engaged with each other, and the plate pieces are assembled upright like a cross. In this state, the projection 2b is at the center of the upper surface. Several sets of the members are prepared, and they are arranged on a working table, wherein printed boards are placed thereon for handling.
