PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent liquid crystal alignment agent which has advantages such as long-term reliability, high voltage holding ratio (VHR), maintenance of a stable pretilt angle, excellent alignment property of liquid crystal and chemical resistance needed by a liquid crystal alignment agent for large LCDTV, achieves high display quality of LCD products, and, in a production process of an LCD panel, does not deteriorate in the characteristics of an alignment film caused by other steps such as liquid crystal dispensing and cleaning. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal alignment agent has stable reliability even in long-term drive. The liquid crystal alignment agent includes any one or a mixture of a specific polyamic acid obtained by reacting a functional diamine with an alicyclic acid dianhydride and a cyclic aromatic acid dianhydride and a specific polyimide polymer obtained by imidation of the polyamic acid, a compound having an epoxy functional group and an organic solvent.
