PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a program element having a data flow and an external program as one program tree in a program tree display method. SOLUTION: A node storage means 1a stores nodes corresponding to the types of program elements. A tree generation means 1b connects nodes corresponding to program elements having a program element having a data flow showing the flow of processing and a program element having a data flow showing the flow of processing in a low order in a tree-form to generate a program tree showing a hierarchical structure between the program elements. An external program setting means 1c sets the external program as a program element which does not have any data flow as a node for the program tree generated by the tree generation means 1b.
