PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner excellent in control of particle diameter and in physical properties such as storage stability and durability, a toner manufactured by the same, an image forming method using the toner in which low-temperature fixing with high image quality is allowed, and an image forming apparatus housing the toner in which low-temperature fixing with high image quality is allowed. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a toner includes: a step of manufacturing polymer latex particles by polymerizing a toner composition comprising a macromonomer having a hydrophilic group and a hydrophobic group and containing one or more reactive functional groups and one or more polymerizable monomers; a step of forming core particles by aggregating the polymer latex particles; and a step of forming a shell layer by coating the core particles with a polymer having a higher glass transition temperature than the glass transition temperature of a core particle component.
