PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of automatically checking whether a document described as a cited reference exists or not.

SOLUTION: The electronic journal system comprises: a search formula generation means for extracting cited reference information included in document data, and generating a search formula based on the extracted cited reference information; an identifier acquisition means for searching a storage means for an identifier specific to the document by using the search formula generated by the search formula generation means; a link embedding means for generating link information for accessing original data of the cited reference by using the acquired identifier when the identifier specific to the document is acquired by the identifier acquisition means, and embedding the link information generated by the document data.
