PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rainwater storage tank design supporting device for supporting the design of a rainwater storage tank constructed in combination of a plurality of types of water reservoir materials different in shape to maximize its cavity portion as a water storage portion while maintaining its strength, and to provide its method. SOLUTION: The rainwater storage tank design supporting device is provided for supporting the design of the rainwater storage tank in which water reservoir sets different in rainwater storage capacity rate and horizontal load resistance are formed in combination of the plurality of types of water reservoir materials and continuously provided in the vertical direction. It comprises a water reservoir set information holding means 1, an installation condition information holding means 2, a horizontal load calculating means 3, and a basic water reservoir set selection adopting means 4. The rainwater storage tank design supporting method is executed by a computer having water reservoir set information and installation condition information.
