摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plane lighting system in which there is no reflection of a light source, and a bright and uniform outgoing light can be obtained without darkening spots on both ends of an incident end face part near an incident end face part. <P>SOLUTION: The plane lighting system 1 is provided with a light source 9, a light guide plate 2 and a reflector 10. The light guide plate 2 is composed of an incident end face part 3 which guides light from the light source 9, an opposite-incident end face part 4, a surface part 6, a rear face part 7 and a side face part 5 to form a wedge shape. A distance between the surface part 6 and the rear face part 7 is smallest at the incident end face part and a distance between the surface part 6 and the rear face part 7 is largest at the opposite-incident end face part 4, and the surface part 6 has an inclined face of a uniform inclination from the incident end face part 3 to the opposite-incident end face part 4. Light incoming from the incident end face part 3 does not break a critical angle while progressing in a direction parting away from the incident end face part 3 and breaks the critical angle when the light is reflected by the opposite-incident end face part 4 and returns to the incident end face part 3 and breaks the critical angle and is emitted out.
