A microsatellite marker showing interspecific polymorphism in Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius, and a primer for amplification thereof are provided to discriminate between Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius, so that the gene resource of native ginsengs is preserved and their quality is maintained. The microsatellite marker showing interspecific polymorphism in Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius has any one nucleotide sequence selected from SEQ ID NO:1 to SEQ ID NO:31. The primer for amplification of the interspecific polymorphic microsatellite marker in Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius has any one nucleotide sequence selected from SEQ ID NO:32 to SEQ ID NO:59.
