PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cracking hydrocarbon oil catalytically, which is a FCC catalyst to be used in a process of producing a light gasoline fraction from hydrocarbon oil, has high cracking activity and efficiently advances a production reaction of high-octane FCC gasoline without lowering the yield of FCC gasoline and to provide a method for cracking hydrocarbon oil catalytically by using the catalyst for cracking hydrocarbon oil catalytically. SOLUTION: The catalyst for cracking hydrocarbon oil catalytically is composed of crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite (1), pseudoboehmite (2), an alumina binder (3) and a clay mineral (4). The crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite is characterized in that the molar ratio of SiO<SB>2</SB>/Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>is 4-15, the molar ratio of the Al contained in a skeleton of zeolite to the total Al is 0.3-1.0 and the size of unit lattice is 24.35-24.65.
