Two members of the roof structure are joined by an adhesive compound(16) which engages in an undercut(20) in the first member(12,14) and also an undercut(22) in the second member. Positive connections created between adhesive and each member ensures the two members are firmly joined together. The first member may be an outer shell of a roof module and the second member a border around an opening in the vehicle body. Alternatively the first member is a fixed glass or transparent plastic screen and the second member is the edge of a roof opening. The first member(12,14) may be adjustable to open or close an opening and can be a transparent lamellae of a lamellae roof or a cover of a sliding roof, lifting and sliding roof or spoiler roof. The second member(18) can be either a reinforcing profile, a holder or seal or a holder for a seal. The first(14) and/or second member is shaped so that the adhesive(16) completely surrounds it at one point. An Independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing the roof structure in which an adhesive compound(16) is introduced into undercuts(20) in the first member and the adhesive is brought into contact with the second member and flows in undercuts(22) in the latter where it cures to form a positive joint. |
