<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing electrolyte solution for a lithium ion battery containing lithium hexafluorophosphate as electrolyte, and to provide a lithium ion battery using the same. <P>SOLUTION: In manufacturing the electrolyte solution for the lithium ion battery using lithium hexafluorophosphate as the electrolyte, phosphorus trichloride is made to react with chlorine and lithium chloride, and then, solution of reaction product is made to react with hydrogen fluoride, and further, with lithium chloride.
