<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gain calculation apparatus capable of more suitably calculating a WB gain at strobe photographing. <P>SOLUTION: In calculating the WB gain applied to an image imaged with strobe, first the contribution of strobe light is estimated. In estimating the contribution, first the image is divided into a plurality of blocks, and a representative luminance value and a representative color value of each block are determined (S23). Succeedingly, a block with the highest luminance among blocks with a color similar to the color of the strobe light is particularized as a strobe color block (S26). When the strobe color block exists, the contribution of the strobe light is estimated on the basis of the position of the strobe color block and a luminance difference of the other blocks or the like (S32 to S48).
