PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for producing an olefin polymer, which can save complicated synthesis processes for catalyst components and is used for efficiently producing the olefin polymer, and to provide a method for producing an olefin polymer in the presence of the same, by which the olefin polymer can efficiently be produced. SOLUTION: This method for producing the olefin polymer comprises polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a catalyst for producing the olefin polymer, comprising (a) a metallocene compound containing a transition metal in the group 4 in the periodic table and (b) an iminometallane compound represented by the general formula (29): R<SP>2</SP>NM<SP>6</SP>R<SP>18</SP><SB>l-2</SB>, wherein, R<SP>18</SP>groups are each independently H or a 1 to 20C hydrocarbon group or a halogenated hydrocarbon group; R<SP>2</SP>is a 1 to 20C halogenated hydrocarbon group; M<SP>6</SP>is a metal in the group 2, 12 or 13 in the periodic table; (l) is the valency of the metal M<SP>6</SP>.
