LIGHTING SYSTEM, ITS DRIVING METHOD, LIQUID CRYSTAL DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system low in power consumption and capable of improving luminance irregularity; and to provide its driving method.

SOLUTION: This lighting system is provided with: a plurality of light emitting elements arranged in a linear form and electrically classified into a plurality of groups; a light guide plate for receiving light from the respective light emitting elements to emit it in a specific direction; and a driving means for driving the plurality of light emitting elements by pulse signals on the basis of the plurality of groups. The plurality of groups are different in the number of light emitting elements, and the driving means drives the plurality of light emitting elements by the pulse signals at levels setting the respective total luminance values of the plurality of groups nearly equal.
