<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an application service having various data structures stored in an IC card under such an environment that IC cards in a plurality of technological systems coexist. <P>SOLUTION: Service directory data describing the information of an application service are stored in an IC card. This card reader/writer judges the detected card classification of the IC card, and reads the service directory data, and judges what are stored in the card, and preliminarily confirms what type of application service is stored in the card, and performs service recovery.
