PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wavy noise that is a problem of a conventional lateral field type (in-plane switching (IPS) mode) liquid crystal display device, to maximize productivity by reducing a processing time and saving a material cost, and to increase a production yield by reducing errors during a mask process. SOLUTION: An array substrate for a lateral field type (IPS-mode) liquid crystal display device comprises: a substrate having a switching region and a pixel region defined thereon; a gate line formed along one side of the pixel region; a gate electrode formed in the switching region as connected to the gate line; a common line parallel to the gate line and separated from the gate line; first and second common electrodes separated from each other and branched from the common line into the pixel region; and a gate insulating film formed on the gate line, the common line and the first and second common electrodes.
