PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the device for improving reliability by preventing electrolytic corrosion of a gate pad. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a substrate; a gate pad including a gate ITO electrode formed on the substrate, a first and second gate pad bottom electrode formed in a part of the gate ITO electrode, a gate insulating layer formed on the first and second gate pad bottom electrode, a passivation (protective) layer formed on the gate insulating layer, and a gate pad top electrode formed on the passivation layer and made of the same material as the gate ITO electrode, and at least one contact hole which electrically connects the gate ITO electrode and an upper part of the gate pad; and a liquid crystal panel having a gate line having a dual structure integrally formed with the first and second gate pad bottom electrode.
