PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine controller capable of reducing noise generated by a cooling fan by reducing rotational speed of the fan by an engine having the inexpensive direct moving cooling fan. SOLUTION: This engine 12 of electronic control type can control amount of droop by changing a droop curve of engine characteristic by an electronic governor 11. Temperature of cooling water and temperature of hydraulic fluid in a cooling unit 14 are reduced by the direct acting cooling fan 13 connected with the engine 12. These temperatures are detected by a cooling water temperature sensor 20 and a hydraulic fluid temperature sensor 22. The engine 12 is provided with a droop amount controller 24 for controlling amount of droop in the direction for increasing amount of droop of the engine 12 in accordance with rise of temperatures of cooling water and hydraulic fluid.
