摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system of an internal combustion engine capable of favorably suppressing worsening of control of quantity of state occurred after restarting feeding when feeding into a memory of a control unit of quantity of state is temporarily stopped and worsening of engine operation due to it. SOLUTION: An engine control unit 100 sets a control target value of the maximum amount of lift of an intake valve based on an engine operation condition. The control unit 60 of the quantity of state has the memory 61a to control a motor 62 and detect amount of change of the maximum amount of lift. The control unit 60 of the quantity of state renews the detected value to be stored based on amount of change, and the engine control unit 100 takes in the detected value to be renewed and stores and holds this value together with the control target value to be set. The control unit 60 of the quantity of state initializes the contents stored in the memory 61a based on at least either of the detected value stored by the engine control unit 100 and the control target value after resuming feeding into the memory 61a.
