1,247,425. Pulverulent scouring agents. HENKEL & CIE G.m.b.H. 2 Dec., 1969 [3 Dec., 1968], No. 58770/69. Headings C4V and C5D. A pulverulent scouring agent comprises (A) a major amount, especially 60 to 95% by wt., of a water-insoluble component with a scouring action, (B) a minor amount, especially 5 to 40%, of an oxygen-yielding bleaching agent and an activator therefor which is an acylated glycoluril of formula in which at least two of the residues R 1 to R 4 are C 2 -C 8 acyl residues and the remainder are H, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 1 -C 8 aryl or C 2 -C 8 acyl, the acyl residues optionally being substituted by methoxy, NO 2 , CN or halogen. Preferably the activator is one in which R 1 to R 4 are the same acyl residues having 2 to 4 carbon atoms e.g. tetraacetyl glycoluril or tetrapropionylglycoluril. The bleaching agent may be urea peroxide, melamine perhydrate, alkali metal perborates, percarbonates, perpyrophosphates or persilicates. Optional ingredients are (1) anionic, amphoteric or non-ionic surfactants; (2) builder salts e.g. alkali metal bicarbonates, carbonates, borates, silicates, sulphates, phosphates or polyphosphates; (3) complexing agents e.g. alkali metal lactates, citrates, tartrates, nitrilotriacetates or ethylenediaminotetraacetates; (4) dirt-dispersing colloids e.g. cellulose derivatives or polymers of maleic acid, acrylic acid, itaconic acid, mesaconic acid, fumaric acid, citraconic acid or copolymers thereof; (5) germicides, corrosion inhibitors, superfatting agents, skin-protecting substances, dyestuffs and perfumes; and (6) coated or stabilized enzymes. The scouring agent may be quartz, feldspar, marble dust, fluorspar flour, kaolin, pumice, synthetic resins or mineral abrasives coated with synthetic resins. |
