PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic sample making apparatus which makes good use of staining fluid even with a small number of samples, which enables automation from smearing to staining, and which provides a high degree of freedom in terms of handling and control of glass slides. SOLUTION: The automatic sample making apparatus includes: a smearing section for smearing sample glass slides with blood; a conveying section for conveying a storage body, set detachably in the conveying section, which includes a storage section in which the sample glass slides and staining fluid can be stored; a storage operation section for putting the sample glass slides one by one in the storage body; and a staining section for staining the smeared glass slides by supplying the staining fluid to the storage body, the conveying section conveying, to the staining section, the storage body in which the glass slides have been put by the storage operation section and carrying, from the staining section, the storage body in which the glass slides stained by the staining section are stored.
