PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the conventional error diffusion method and to eliminate variations in a dot occurrence frequency. SOLUTION: An image processor includes an image data acquiring means 10 for acquiring image data having the number of gradations of an M (M≥3; M is a natural number) value, an N-ary coding means 20 for performing N-ary coding being processing for converting the image data of the number of gradations of the M value acquired by the image data acquiring means into image data of the number of gradations of an N (M>N≥2; N is a natural number) by dividing the processing into a plurality of processing, an integrating means 30 for integrating the image data N-ary-coded by the N-ary coding means by dividing the processing into the plurality of processing, and a data outputting means 40 for outputting the N-ary coded image data integrated by the integrating means, wherein the N-ary coding means performs scanning so that the scanning start point and scanning direction of an image in error diffusion of prescribed N-ary coding in the plurality of N-ary coding and the scanning start point and scanning direction of an image in error diffusion of the next N-ary coding of the prescribed N-ary coding can have a relationship of facing the center part of an error diffusion matrix.
