PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for generating a trigger signal that can surely inform of the occurrence of a phenomenon of a momentary change in an object at a high speed. SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 includes: a light emission means 20; a reflected light receiving means 30; a luminance change detection means 40; and a trigger signal generating means 50, the light emission means 20 inculdes: a light emission section 21 for generating reference light emitted onto the object; a modulation signal generator 22 for generating a signal for applying amplitude modulation to the reference light; and an emission optical system 23 for emitting the reference light to the object, the reflected light receiving means 30 includes: a received light optical system 31 for receiving the reflected light reflected in the object; and a light receiving section 32 for receiving the reflected light and converting it into an electric signal, and the luminance change detection means 40 includes: an arithmetic section 41 for applying arithmetic processing to the signal; and a luminance change detection section 42 for detecting a luminance change in the object.
