<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inducing reendothelialization of the inner layer of an injured blood vessel, which includes a process for bringing the injured portion of the vessel into contact with an effective amount of nucleic acid which can express endothelial cell mitogen. <P>SOLUTION: A kit includes an aqueous solution containing nucleic acid encoding endothelial cell mitogen and a means to deliver the nucleic acid to the injured portion of the vessel. The method, for example, can be used for treatment of any blood vessel injury that causes exposure of the endothelial inner layer of the vessel wall, including those injuries resulting from balloon angioplasty and deployment of intravascular stents. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
