PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamo-electric machine with speed change mechanism small in outside diameter, and to provide a drive unit using it. SOLUTION: In this dynamo-electric machine with a speed change mechanism which is equipped with a stator that is equipped with annular field coils 7, a cylindrical rotor 4 that rotates inside the above stator, speed change mechanisms 3, 14, 16 and 17 that are provided within the above cylindrical rotor 4, and casings 8 and 9 that enclose at least the above rotor 4, the above speed change mechanism, and a lubricant, the above stator is equipped with the above annular field coils 7 and annular cores 10 which enclose the above annular field coils 7 and organic material and which are provided with a plurality of claws projected at the internal perimetric faces.
