PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetron which can improve an efficiency by reducing a heating power for a cathode and reducing a proportion of an input power to the same output power. SOLUTION: The magnetron includes an anode, a cathode placed at the center of the anode, a plurality of vanes projecting from the inner surface of the anode toward the cathode radially, and an upper end shield and a lower end shield coupled to the top and the bottom of the cathode respectively so that a length L of an effective heating part of the cathode is shorter than the height H of the vane.
