A driving member 10 (e.g. the flywheel of an I.C. engine) and a coaxial driven member 16 are coupled by helical tension springs 30 which when not transmitting torque, lie with their axes substantially radial, the springs 30 being mounted slightly out of a radial plane (e.g. to load friction pads damping vibration).
