The device has hanging brackets (8) fastened to a carrying structure (6). A guide (4), pulling ropes (10, 12, 14), a rope winch (16), guide rollers (20, 22), and diverting rollers are provided to raise and lower the structure with the brackets. The ropes connect the rope winch and the carrying structure. The structure with the brackets and horse blankets moves to an upper end position in which lower ends of the blankets have vertical distance from soil by rotation of a rope drum of the winch. Side parts of the brackets are moved to a lower end position for hanging the blankets.
