LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which exhibits high performance and is inexpensive by reducing flickering.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device displays an image and includes: a liquid crystal modulation element 50 for modulating light from a light source; a controller 70 for switching the display area of the display modulation element; and a detection part 80 for detecting flickers of the image based on the display area, and is characterized in that the controller controls driving of the liquid crystal modulation element so as to suppress the flickers detected by the detection part.
