摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining method for a transfer optical surface, restraining chipping of a tool to lengthen the life of the tool and continuously cutting the transfer optical surfaces of a number of optical element forming dies with high accuracy using one tool, an optical element forming die machined by the above method, and an optical element formed by it. <P>SOLUTION: In the case where a face angleθis the value of a minus at a cut point Pc, when the vector of cutting resisting force applied to the cutting edge of the tool T is, as shown in the drawing, decomposed into a component force F2 parallel to the cutting face Ts and a component force F1 vertical thereto, the latter component force F1 thereof is changed in its direction toward the inside of the cutting edge of the tool, so that the force is received by the whole cutting edge.
