<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of corresponding to portable instruments with different widths, and suppressing to get out in the direction intersecting at right angles to the width direction of the portable instrument. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus (thermal transferring printer) is equipped with a case body 1 and an image data receiving part 3 for receiving image data transmitted from a mobile telephone 2. The mobile telephone 2 has an image data transmitting part 2b for transmitting the image data by infrared rays. In the case body 1, a holding part 10 for holding the mobile telephone 2 is provided, and the holding part 10 is slidable in the width direction of the mobile telephone 2, and is arranged so as to pinch the mobile telephone 2 from the width direction, and comprises a fixing member 12 with an inclined part 12a and a compression coil spring 14 energizing the fixing member 12 to the mobile telephone 2 side. The image data receiving part 3 is provided at a position corresponding to the image data transmitting part 2b of the mobile telephone 2.
