REMOTELY PROGRAMMING A PATIENT MEDICAL DEVICE

A system (10) and method (130) for remotely programming a patient medical device (PMD) 55 is presented. Programming instructions (63) specified remotely are translated into commands (56) formatted for a PMD (55) to control functionality thereof. Correctness (150) of the PMD-formatted commands (56) is checked. Patient consent (102) to modify the functionality of the PMD (55) is confirmed. Application of the PMD-formatted commands (56) to the PMD (55) is controlled during a programming session (103) initiated and performed remotely. The application of the PMD-formatted commands (56) is confirmed through interrogation (111) of the PMD (55) to verify the functionality modified.
